Surakarta, November 2024 – Another proud achievement was achieved by students of the Public Health Study Program (Kesmas) who won the Silver Medal at the prestigious 2024 International Science and Invention Fair (ISIF). This international competition, which was attended by young innovators from various countries, became a stage for Public Health students to showcase their innovations.
The Public Health student team consisting of Ilma Khoirunissa, Alya Tsurayya, Sa’adah Luthfia Fatimah, and Aulya Rahma Santi successfully developed an innovative project entitled NAHYCA-POLYBAG: An Innovation of Organic Polybag, Nourish the Plant and Biodegradable which Reduces the Accumulation of Plastic Waste. This innovation presents an alternative solution to the use of plastic polybags that are difficult to decompose by creating organic polybags that are environmentally friendly and can fertilize plants.
In this competition, the team from the Public Health Study Program successfully competed with various innovators from all over the world and received appreciation for the creativity and positive impact of the projects they developed. NAHYCA-POLYBAG is expected to be a real step in reducing the accumulation of plastic waste and supporting sustainable agriculture.
This success is proof of the dedication and hard work of students in developing innovative solutions that have a positive impact on the environment. The supervising lecturer and the university also gave their appreciation and full support for this extraordinary achievement. It is hoped that this achievement can inspire other students to continue to innovate and contribute to society.
With this success, Public Health students are increasingly showing their existence in the international arena and proving that health and environmental-based innovations have great potential in providing broad benefits.
