Students specializing in Environmental Health from the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) carried out field visits on Tuesday 7 May 2024 in three places, namely:
1. Surakarta City Drinking Water Regional Public Company (PERUMDA);
2. Semanggi IPA & IPAL;
3. Bung Karno Regional Hospital.
This visit aims to add practical insight to students regarding the management of IPA (Water Treatment Plants), waste management in domestic IPAL (Waste Water Treatment Plants) and waste management in health service facilities.
While at PERUMDA Air Minum Surakarta City, students were given the opportunity by the company to learn in the main laboratory about physically, chemically and biologically checking water quality. Then, while at the Semanggi IPA and IPAL, where this place is still under the auspices of the Surakarta City Drinking Water PERUMDA, students are given the opportunity to learn about drinking water treatment and domestic waste processing carried out by the company. And in the final place, namely at Bung Karno Regional Hospital, students were given the opportunity to learn about processing liquid waste, B3 waste and non-B3 hospital waste.
