UMS Faculty of Health Sciences Public Health Program Hosts Visit from UMKT Faculty of Public Health, Strengthening Collaboration Among PTMA Institutions

SURAKARTA – The Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), welcomed a study visit from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (FKM UMKT) on April 7, 2026. The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen academic partnerships and exchange best practices in public health education and institutional development.

The program commenced with an opening session attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Health Sciences UMS, representatives of the Department of Public Health UMS, and delegates from FKM UMKT. During the session, both institutions introduced their academic profiles, vision, and educational programs, laying the foundation for closer collaboration between the two universities.

The visit continued with a study-sharing session led by the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of Public Health UMS. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including academic governance, curriculum development, teaching and learning strategies, quality assurance systems, the integration of technology in higher education, and various innovations implemented within the Faculty of Health Sciences UMS.

An interactive discussion followed, allowing participants from FKM UMKT and UMS to exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices in managing public health education. The session provided valuable insights and fostered mutual learning to support continuous quality improvement in both institutions.

As part of the visit, the FKM UMKT delegation toured the laboratories and academic units within the Faculty of Health Sciences UMS. The laboratory tour offered participants a closer look at the faculty’s practical learning facilities, laboratory-based education, and supporting infrastructure designed to enhance students’ competencies and professional skills.

Through this study visit, the Department of Public Health UMS reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration among Muhammadiyah higher education institutions. The program is expected to promote future partnerships in education, research, community engagement, student and faculty exchanges, and other collaborative academic initiatives.

The Department of Public Health UMS hopes that this visit will serve as the beginning of a sustainable partnership with FKM UMKT, contributing to the development of high-quality public health education and preparing future public health professionals who are innovative, globally competitive, and responsive to emerging health challenges.
