SURAKARTA – A student from the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), has once again brought pride to the university by achieving outstanding success at the 2026 Indonesian Research Olympiad (Olimpiade Penelitian Indonesia/OPI). Najma Azizah Nurrahmah, a Public Health UMS student, was awarded the Bronze Medal and the Best Poster Award during the national competition held at Universitas AKPRIND Indonesia, Yogyakarta, on May 9, 2026.
The Indonesian Research Olympiad brought together talented young researchers and innovators from universities across Indonesia. Competing against participants from various institutions, Najma demonstrated excellence in research and scientific presentation, earning two prestigious awards for her outstanding performance.
Throughout the competition, Najma was supervised by Izzatul Arifah, S.K.M., M.P.H., a lecturer from the Department of Public Health UMS. The academic guidance provided throughout the research process played a significant role in developing the project and preparing the scientific poster that ultimately received the Best Poster Award.
The Bronze Medal recognizes the quality and innovation of Najma’s research, while the Best Poster Award highlights her ability to communicate research findings effectively through a clear, engaging, and impactful scientific presentation.
The Department of Public Health UMS expressed its appreciation for this remarkable achievement, emphasizing that the accomplishment reflects the department’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture among its students.
