“The Spirit of Being a Quality Peer Educator in the Current Millennial Era” Discussion and Formation of GeMPHA Peer Educators

The HIV/AIDS Concern Student Movement (GeMPHA) Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) is again holding discussions and forming peer educators. The discussion and formation of peer educators will be held on Sunday, May 29 2022, at 08.30-finish, via zoom meeting. The theme of this activity is “The Spirit of Being a Quality Peer Educator in the Current Millennial Era”. The form of this activity is a discussion with all members GeMPHA about HIV/AIDS and establishing Peers
Educator. Participants in the activity are all members of GeMPHA University Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Which consists of health students
community semesters 2, 4 and 6. Where some of the participants have not yet have received formal information about what HIV/AIDS is. The discussion and formation of peer educators presented extraordinary resource persons, including Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Masruri, and Mr. Garis Subandi. During the presentation of discussion material and the formation of peer educators by the speaker, several materials were presented about generation Z, characteristics of generation Z, advantages and disadvantages of generation Z, definition of counseling, goals of counseling, requirements for peer counselors, skills of peer counselors, steps in counseling, ways of interacting with genes Z,  definition of peer educator, how to be a good peer educator, goals of peer educators, peers, and skills of peer educators. After the presentation of the material is complete, there will be a question and answer session. In this session, participants were given the opportunity to ask the speaker about material on becoming a quality peer educator, counseling, and peer educators or peer education. From the discussion and formation of peer educators, it is hoped that the committee and participants who take part in this discussion and training will be able to know and understand what counseling is and how to become a counselor or good peer educators. Apart from that, peer educators are also expected to be able to convey knowledge and information about HIV/AIDS effectively
