Students specializing in Environmental Health from the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) carried out field practicums in the Vector Infectious Disease Control Practicum course. The practicum was a fly identification survey which was carried out at Kleco Market Monday, May 20 2024. Students in carrying out the practicum were accompanied by Mr. Kurniawan Rahmadika, SKM as epidemiology laboratory assistant and Mrs. Widya Kusuma Muslim, S.Tr.Kes. as a waste processing laboratory. In practice, students are asked to calculate the density of flies attached to a fly grill that is placed within a predetermined period of time. The fly density figure is used to identify the sanitary conditions in an environment. If the fly density figure is low then the environmental sanitation is good, if the fly density figure is high then the environmental sanitation is poor.
