Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) in Sukoharjo, Central Java has opened new student registrations for the 2022/2023 academic year starting Wednesday (1/12/2021).
A total of 8,000 seats are provided for new students who plan to study at the UMS campus. This number is less than the previous school year.
“For this year, we have prepared a quota of 8,000 divided into 12 faculties and 60 study programs,” explained UMS Chancellor Sofyan Anif to reporters after launching PMB, Wednesday (1/12/2021).
The Professor at the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education added, “The previous year it reached 8,163 new students out of 26,621 registrants.”
Sofyan said that PMB UMS had actually opened the day before with nearly 500 registrants. “For registration, we use a one day service (ODS) system, this is to simplify the registration process until the announcement because it is IT-based,” he said.
He also said that UMS has its own differences when compared to other universities, including state universities.
“There are other universities that still use the conventional system, namely through tests, and we are already IT-based. Besides that, we have also stopped implementing waves in new student admissions,” he explained.
Asked about the favorite majors at UMS, Sofyan Anif said that there were quite a few that were in great demand by prospective new students. From medicine to psychology.
“The favorites are medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, nursing is also one of the best in health. In addition, there are physiotherapy, psychology, law and economics,” he said.
