Welcoming new students at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta or better known as MASTA, is a series of welcoming new students which will be held from 23-28 August 2021, with the theme ‘Carving Achievements to Brighten the Country’. The activity was officially opened on Monday, August 23, 2021 through Zoom Meeting and YouTube TV UMS Channel.
Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Haedar Nasir, M.Si, took special time to welcome 7601 new UMS 2021 students.
Haedar said that when he was accepted at UMS, he was not only a part of Muhammadiyah students on this campus, but also a network of 164 Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Universities that excel in various aspects.
“The various achievements that have been achieved by UMS certainly make us proud and grateful, and we, the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, give our appreciation to UMS, which is a superior campus that is advanced at the national and international levels,” said the chairman of PP Muhammadiyah.
On that occasion, he also said that 7,601 students in this initial period have been declared new students, so make the best use of this opportunity.
“The will is strong, even though it is still in the midst of a pandemic, students have to start to seek knowledge and learn life from this best campus. Seriousness and strong determination are the capital of success,” said Haedar.
He added that even though they are far away, students must multiply their enthusiasm for learning so that the results are better, show it to parents and the community. That UMS students are able to study in a thorough and earnest way. So prove to the world, new students are uswah hasanah who are at the forefront of success in the future.
“Seeking knowledge is jihad fii sabilillah. Whoever sets foot in search of knowledge, then he is walking in the way of Allah. Putting all of your abilities into action is the key to success,” he said.
In his speech, he also gave tips that the key to success is to prioritize noble character, because people are as smart as people, but if their morality, attitude and actions are not positive, everything will fall apart and fall apart. Thus, students need to hone noble character development. If we do good, then goodness will return to us.
He advised new students after leaving campus with all success, students will live in society, nation and state.
“You will live in a more complex future, with that you must continue to carry the mission of Muhammadiyah,” concluded Haedar Nashir in his speech at the GO Masta PMB and UKM Expo.
UMS Chancellor, Prof. Sofyan Anif M.Si, also welcomed UMS students.
“We will continue to escort new UMS students to become a superior generation who are able to compete and at the same time have character, and have an identity,” said Sofyan.
He also expressed his gratitude to the parents of students, for their trust in choosing UMS as the choice of higher education for their children, it is very appropriate, to build this nation. It is hoped that in the future students will also become cadres of society and nation cadres.
“Use the best time, be active, dynamic, creative, and innovate in improving literacy even in this pandemic condition, to achieve goals and ideals,” concluded the UMS Chancellor.
