“Generation Sparkle to Stop Discrimination and Stigma Against PLWHA” with GeMPHA

Students from the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) held discussions and formed peer educators. The discussion and formation of peer educators was carried out by GeMPHA. This activity was held on Sunday, March 14 2021, at 09.30 – completed via zoom. The theme of this activity is “Generation Sparkle to Stop Discrimination and Stigma Against PLWHA”. In carrying out this discussion, material about HIV/AIDS was delivered by Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Masruri and Mr. Garis Subandi using interactive presentation and dialogue methods. The discussion and formation of peer educators was attended by all members of the HIV/AIDS Concern Student Movement (GeMPHA) which included students in semester 2, semester 4 and semester 6 with a total of 45 participants taking part in the training. With this discussion, participants’ knowledge increased and increased, such as knowing how to prevent, how to transmit, AIDS opportunistic diseases. Apart from that, it also increases awareness among participants so they care more about PLWHA which results in the absence of stigma and discrimination against PLWHA.
