Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has made another achievement. This time, UMS became the top private university in Indonesia. Not long ago, the international university ranking institution, 4icu.org or UniRank released the “Top 200 Universities In Asia 2019 Asian University Ranking”.

According to the rankings released by 4icu.org, the campus, which is located on Jalan Ahmad Yani Pebelan Kartasura, is ranked number 157 of the best of 200 Public and Private Universities in Asia. This position makes UMS known as the best Private Universities (PTS) in Indonesia. The reason is, of the 15 universities (PT) from Indonesia that are in the 200 Asian rankings, UMS is the only private university in it, at number 12.

“UniRank is looking for the top 200 universities in Asia. And UMS is included in it with influential state universities in Indonesia. UMS is the best private university in Indonesia. But if you compare it with universities from Indonesia, UMS is number 12, which is UGM first,” said UMS Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si when met in the Rectorate Meeting Room of the Siti Walidah Main Building, 6th floor, Monday (2/12/2019).

The assessment criteria from 4icu.org are, among others, universities that have received a license or accreditation from an assessment organization in that country. Second, universities that provide educational programs from undergraduate, master to doctoral degrees. Other assessments are based on universities that provide training or teaching using traditional education systems that involve direct or face-to-face interaction and are not carried out remotely.

Meanwhile, 4icu.org itself is a ranking institution for universities in the world that can be seen from a global scale, region, and each country. Seeing this achievement, Sofyan Anif said that the achievements of UMS so far are proof that this university is really managed with extraordinary sincerity. This achievement is also a reward for the public’s trust in UMS.

In addition, the Chancellor of UMS also added, if you look at the Ristekdikti version of the assessment for the category of private universities on research performance indicators, UMS is designated as the 2nd best private university under the Indonesian Islamic University (UII).
