On Saturday, March 16, 2019, the Solo Branch of the PERMI (Indonesian Association of Microbiologists) Symposium was held with the theme “Utilization of Natural Materials and Microbes for Public Health. This symposium was held in collaboration with the Solo branch of PERMI and the Public Health Study Program, FIK UMS. PERMI Solo branch is a forum for academics who have special interests and concerns in the field of microbiology. Most of them are teaching staff and students from various universities in Solo, but some are from Salatiga and Yogyakarta. By joining the PERMI professional organization, it is possible to establish a wide network of cooperation with various universities in Solo and its surroundings.
Located in the Seminar Room of the Siti Walidah Main Building, 7th floor, this symposium presented two speakers, namely Speaker 1: Drs. Boy Rahardjo Sidharta, MSc from Biology Study Program, Faculty of Technology, Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta, who explained about Symbiont Bacterial Antibiotic Screening on Seagrass. And speaker 2: Ambarwati, MSi who is a teaching staff at the Public Health Study Program FIK UMS who explained about Anti-dandruff Shampoo from Fragrant Pandan Leaf Extract and Noni Fruit. The symposium was hosted by Aan Sofyan, MSc as moderator.
In his speech Dr. Ir. MMA Retno Rosariastuti, MSi as the head of PERMI Solo branch, expressed her happiness because PERMI Solo Branch is one of the active PERMI branches, so some friends from Yogya and Salatiga also joined PERMI Solo Branch. Sri Darnoto, SKM, MPH as the head of the Public Health Study Program FIK UMS was pleased to give a speech and officially open the symposium. In his remarks, he expressed his gratitude for the presence of the members of PERMI Solo Branch at UMS as well as expressed his apologies if there were things that were not pleasing in the reception.
The PERMI Solo branch symposium is a routine agenda of the Solo branch PERMI which is held every three months. The venue for the event varies in various universities where PERMI members come from. This time the PERMI Solo branch symposium was attended by 57 participants from various faculties and universities, namely from UMS (Faculty of Health Sciences), UNS (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, and Biology MIPA), USB (Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy), UAJY (Faculty of Biology), SWCU Salatiga (Faculty of Biology, Agricultural Technology and Nutrition), UTP (Faculty of Agriculture), UNISRI (Faculty of Agriculture), UNIVET (Faculty of Agriculture) and from AAK Manggala.
“Thank God the PERMI Symposium went smoothly and successfully, thank you for the enthusiasm of the friends of PERMI Solo Branch who have supported the implementation of this symposium,” said Ambarwati as the chairman of the committee. “God willing, we will meet again at the International Conference next August at The Sunan Hotel, where PERMI Solo Branch was entrusted by PERMI Pusat as the host for the 2019 ISISM organizer.” he continued.
