At the age of 60 years, various kinds of achievements and awards are often made by the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). This time, right at the end of November, the A-accredited campus was awarded the National Best Private Universities. The award was given by Jawa Pos Radar Solo in its program Radar Solo Awards 2018.

Friday (30/11/2018) night, Dr. Sofyan Anif M.Sc., Chancellor of UMS directly received the award. The award night, which was held for the third time by Jawa Pos Radar Solo, took place at the Bright Grand Ball room of Harris Hotel Solo.

When interviewed at the venue, Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Sc., said that this was the second time that UMS was awarded as the best National University from Jawa Pos Radar Solo. “Regarding the Radar Solo Awards, like last year, UMS still remains as the best National Private Universities,” he explained.

He continued, the former Vice Chancellor IV for the 2013 – 2017 period also said that this award should be grateful for and become an encouragement for the UMS academic community to maintain their achievements.

For the hard efforts of the entire UMS extended family so far, the Chancellor also hopes that the campus, which now has 60 study programs, will improve the quality of UMS and be trusted by the community in the future.

“Because we have tried to continuously improve the quality of UMS, of course our hope is that in the future it will be better,” he said.

Meanwhile, Taufik Lamade, who served as Director of Jawa Pos Radar Solo, said that the reason UMS was chosen as the Best Private University had gone through research and consideration from his team. One of the considerations he made was because he appreciated the achievements of UMS which managed to get into the 9 best universities in Indonesia, and UMS was ranked 8th in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking 2018.

“We appreciate the success of UMS in becoming the best university in Indonesia, UMS ranks 8th competing with other state universities,” he said when interviewed on the sidelines of the event.

He also added that of the nine best universities, UMS was the only private university in it. So that UMS becomes the best private university among other private universities. This is proof that UMS is not an ordinary campus. He also admitted that he still remembers the data very well.

“UMS PTS is the best among other private companies, I still remember the data very well. This means that UMS is not just any campus,” he said.

The Radar Solo Global Awards 2018 also crowned various other categories, for figures, organizations, agencies and governments throughout Greater Solo who inspired many people. The event was also entertained with a musical parody of the Owah Band. (Risqi)
