Through Expo 2018 Activities, UMS Introduces All UKM

The Student Activity Unit (UKM) Expo is one of a series of activities to welcome new students at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). This activity is intended to introduce all UKM to 8,997 new students who have been accepted at UMS.

The activities carried out in the UMS Edupark field were carried out for 2 days, Monday – Tuesday (27/8/2018). On the first day, the opening of the UKM expo was attended by the Chancellor of UMS, Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si and the Regent of Karanganyar, Drs. Yuliatmono, MM.

Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si congratulated the new students who had joined UMS. In addition, he also said that at UMS students are expected to be able to galvanize themselves as well as receive knowledge transfer. “It is hoped that later you will be able to galvanize character, character, and at the same time you will transfer knowledge or knowledge and then we will develop it later to contribute to this nation and country so that it will develop better in the future,” he said.

“UMS, which so far has given great achievements, you really have to use the time for approximately 4 years not just to study, but at the same time seek as much experience as possible related to softskill development,” he added.

This is because in the future, to determine whether a person is successful or not, alumni can be successful or not, not only shown by grades or GPA. However, this success is also shown by their soft skills.

In the UKM expo, all UKM in UMS presented their soft skills in front of the students. These soft skills are very diverse, ranging from non-academic activities such as sports, scouting movements, martial arts, to activities related to academics.

In addition, they also performed several dance moves that were performed simultaneously. Even the students who were participants in the expo also participated in dancing with the UKM members.

In addition, Drs. Yuliatmono, MM also gave a speech at the UKM expo held by UMS. In his remarks he invited students to strengthen their intentions in pursuing their future at the best private campuses in Indonesia.

“We invite him to confirm his intention that Allah SWT has placed all of you into great people in the future at UMS. We believe that because the future must be eagerly welcomed, and God pointed it out and planned it through UMS,” he said. (Khairul)
