A visit to the Waste Management practicum course with a total of 30 students, related to the use of waste for hydroponic growing media was carried out at the Agriculture, Resilience and Fisheries Service of Surakarta City. The visit of Environmental Health students from the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) was held on Wednesday, June 7 2023. Practical Field Visits to the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Fisheries of Surakarta City began with remarks by Mr. Anang, an agricultural officer and extension worker . During the visit, material was given regarding the utilization of used bottle waste for the manufacture of hydroponic media with several systems. Students are also invited to visit the Winasis Park where the location is a hydroponic park owned by the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Fisheries of Surakarta City. The park has several types of hydroponic vegetables including mustard greens, pakcoy, and there is also a hydroponic installation for growing hydroponic melons, where the results of the hydroponics are given to posyandu to overcome stunting. The Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Fisheries of Surakarta City also includes other plants such as mushrooms where the planting medium is also sawdust, so apart from using bottle waste, sawdust is also used.
