National Seminar & Call For Paper “Public Health Meets Integrative Medicine : Now and Then”

Traditional health services were the main discussion at the National Seminar & Call For Paper “Public Health Meets Integrative Medicine: Now and Then and the Regional Deliberation of the Indonesian Association of Public Health Experts (IAKMI) in the Central Java Region and, at the Swiss Belin Hotel Solo, Saturday (8/08/2020). 12. This seminar was held by the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Muhammadiyah University of Surakara and was attended by 27 representatives of IAKMI cities/districts throughout Central Java.

“The main discussion of this activity, both the seminar and the Musda this time, is to introduce integrated traditional health services, because traditional health services are a new issue in Indonesia,” explained the Chair of the Organizing Committee, Anisa to reporters, on the sidelines of the event.

According to him, the theme of this seminar is Public Health Meets Integrative Medicine: new and then, with the keynote speaker Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jon Wardle from the Faculty of Health University of Technology Sydney (UTS) from Australia. He is a Senior Lecturer, Public Health Care Member, Australian Research Center in Complementary and Integrative Medicine.

John Wardle in his presentation said that traditional health services are starting to go global. Where the world no longer sees the era of chemical health, but the development of traditional health services is becoming known globally.

“This means that treatment is starting to lead back to nature. Including traditional health services must be able to solve health problems,” he said.

The Central Java IAKMI National Seminar and Musda was opened by the head of the Central Java Provincial Health Office, Mr. dr. Yulianto Prabowo, M.Kes. Apart from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jon Wardle who became the speaker at the national seminar was DR. dr. Ina Rosalina Dadan, Sp. A(K) (Director of Yankestrad, Directorate of Yankestrad, Ministry of Health RI) with the topic: “Integrating Traditional Health Services in Indonesia: Recent Challenges and Progress”, Dr. Ridwan Mochtar Thaha, MSc as head of PP IAKMI with the topic: “The Role of Public Health Professional Organizations in Supporting Integrated Traditional Health Services in Indonesia: Intra and Interprofessional Collaboration”, and Dwi Linna Suswardany, S.KM., MPH. (University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta) with the topic: “Potentials and Directions for the Development of Integrated Traditional Health in the Perspective of Public Health Sciences”. After the national seminar was completed, it was followed by a call for paper which was attended by 30 participants from various cities in Indonesia.
