General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Dr. H. Haedar Nasir, M.Si praised the rapid progress experienced by the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). This can be seen from its academic quality which is no less competitive with other leading universities in the country. Then the building facilities and student absorption are also very big.
Haedar Nashir’s statement was delivered while filling the Ramadan 1440 H study held by UMS together with PP Muhammadiyah which took place at the Mohammad Djazman Auditorium of UMS, Saturday (25/5). The recitation agenda invited Muhammadiyah leaders, Central Java PWM, Vice Chancellors, Deans, Deputy Villages, Heads of Study Programs, and all Heads of Bureaus within UMS.
Haedar Nasir explained, there are two important things in what we are witnessing today. “First, is the rapid progress of UMS in terms of organizing higher education owned by the association, and second is the construction of the UMS edutorium which will be used for the Muhamamdiyah Congress next year,” he said.
Furthermore, the General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah praised UMS for having an A accreditation. It is not enough, the academic quality and absorption of students is also quite large. More than 50 percent of the study programs have A accreditation status.
“We are proud that UMS has advanced academic quality and the quality of its infrastructure, the student absorption is also very large. UMS is an A-accredited institution, so academically it has excelled,” explained Haedar Nasir.
He also appreciated the development of the UMS Edutorium construction process, where this building will be the arena for the 48th 2020 Congress in Surakarta. “The UMS Edutorium is a magnificent building, environmentally friendly, modern and progressive. It’s a beautiful building, I like the color,” he praised.
According to him, this achievement shows Muhammadiyah’s consistency in building quality Indonesian human resources. “This shows that Muhammadiyah wants to continue to do its best to build the quality of human resources, which is actually a gamble for Indonesia. So whoever leads this country cannot escape from our biggest challenge is human resources, and Muhammadiyah continues to try to build the quality of human resources,” he continued.
He also invited, the momentum of this fasting to be a means of building spirituality for the nation and state. “The Indonesian nation is a religious nation, with noble culture from various regions and even has the ideology of Pancasila. So let’s use this fasting momentum to build the spirituality of the people and nation,” he said.
Another appeal, the Muhammadiyah Central Executive directs after the 2019 General Election, the direction of the Indonesian people’s attention shifts to strategic steps for community economic development. “Therefore, after the 2019 election, we Muhammadiyah invites all components of the nation so that attention is shifted to how to have strategic agendas to improve the economy so that the people are more prosperous. Social inequality will be minimized, and Indonesia will become just and prosperous, sovereign, united,” he concluded. (Risqi)
